About Us
What We Do
We help individuals learn to read—step by step, sound by sound.
Our approach is grounded in a sound-based method developed by the late Cliff Ponder, founder of the Academic Associates Reading Program. His structured and logical system for teaching the 44 sounds of the English language laid the foundation for how we teach phonics, decoding, and fluency today. Since then, we have adapted and expanded that method into a program that is interactive, accessible, and designed to meet the needs of learners at various stages.
While our primary focus is on young readers, particularly those in Pre-K through the lower primary grades, we also provide support for older children and adults who are struggling with reading or who never received a strong foundation in literacy. Every learner deserves a chance to read confidently, and we are committed to making that possible.
Here Is How We Do It:
Sound-Based Instruction
We teach individuals how the English language works by helping them master each sound and understand how to blend those sounds into words. This systematic approach builds confidence, fluency, and comprehension.
Interactive, Hands-On Learning
Our sessions are engaging and practical. We incorporate games, storytelling, outdoor exploration, and fine motor activities that make learning to read both meaningful and enjoyable.
Individualized Support
Every learner is different. We tailor instruction to meet each person’s specific needs, whether they are beginning readers, struggling students, or adults seeking to improve their literacy skills.
Assessment and Intervention
We conduct simple but effective reading assessments to identify strengths and areas for growth. Based on the results, we design targeted intervention plans that support steady and measurable progress.
Parent and Family Partnership
We work closely with parents and families, offering check-ins, workshops, and at-home strategies that extend learning beyond the classroom or session time.
Whether in a group setting, a private session, after school, or on weekends, our goal remains the same:
To build strong, joyful, and confident readers—at every age and every stage.
About Our Business
We believe that strong readers are built from the very beginning. That is why our primary focus is on early learners, especially children in Pre-K, who are just beginning to explore letters, sounds, and words.
Led by a licensed reading instructor with more than 20 years of teaching experience, our program combines trusted methods with a unique 44-sound framework that makes reading accessible, engaging, and effective. We understand that the early years are critical for literacy development, and we are committed to giving every child the strong foundation they deserve.
Our approach is hands-on, interactive, and tailored to the needs of young learners. Through small group sessions, one-on-one instruction, outdoor exploration, and fine motor skill development, we meet each child where they are and guide them forward at a pace that supports both mastery and confidence.
Our program is also highly effective for students with ADHD and those on the autism spectrum. The step-by-step structure—originally developed by the late Cliff Ponder—offers clear, consistent instruction that reduces cognitive overload and supports focused learning. This approach is especially helpful for neurodivergent learners, as it avoids unnecessary complexity and builds success one small step at a time.
Reading does not have to be frustrating or overwhelming. With the right support and structure, it becomes a joyful and empowering journey. That is what we provide—step by step, sound by sound, with care, expertise, and purpose.
About Me
I know what it feels like to struggle with reading.
As a child, I had difficulty understanding words and putting sounds together. I sat in classrooms feeling confused and ashamed, wondering why reading seemed easy for everyone else but so hard for me. I smiled to hide the truth, but inside, it crushed my confidence. It affected how I saw myself—not just as a student, but as a person.
That shame followed me for years. Even now, people sometimes remind me of how poor a reader or speller I was. That kind of wound does not heal quickly. But something beautiful happens every time I help a child learn to read:
I feel a little more healed.
Each breakthrough, each smile, each “I can read this!” moment restores something in me that was once broken.
That is why I do this work.
I created this program for the child I used to be—the one who felt left behind. Today, I help children learn to read with dignity, joy, and the right support. I make sure no child under my care ever feels the way I once did. This is not just a career for me—it is a calling.
I am a licensed reading instructor and the founder of a results-driven early learning program rooted in one powerful belief:
Every child can read.
For over a decade, I have helped children move from hesitant to confident learners through my structured, sound-based approach. It teaches children how to recognize and blend every sound in the English language—step by step. No guessing. No memorizing. Just real progress.
But my work goes far beyond reading.
I help children build a full foundation of school readiness:
Reading & Phonics – Mastering sounds, blending, and decoding words
Handwriting – Developing fine motor control and clear letter formation
Speaking & Listening – Building vocabulary, oral expression, and confidence
Following Instructions – Strengthening attention, routine, and classroom habits
Sight Words & Self-Belief – Growing fluency, writing skills, and inner confidence
Whether your child is preparing for Kindergarten or needs support catching up in school, I will meet them where they are—and help them rise.
Let us begin.
Book a session, ask a question, or explore our resources—because your child’s journey to success starts now.
